Waka Kotahi Regional Manager for Greater Wellington and the top of the South Island, Mark Owen, provides an update on the slip currently blocking State Highway 59 between Pukerua Bay and Paekākāriki.
The team in the Wellington Transport Alliance have multiple crews working 10 hours a day, seven days a week, to complete the hillside safety project in as short a time as possible and minimise the impact on people’s journeys.
They want to thank everybody for their patience, and all going smoothly, they hope to be able to re-open the road on Monday 12 September.
