This will also provide an opportunity for members of the public to view Meet New Zealand, a short film made by Steve La Hood showing highlights from the recently acquired Norm Hatch New Zealand Collection (circa 1942), recently gifted to the Ngā Taonga sound and vision archive for the people of New Zealand.

The film shows excerpts from the collection of 30 films and over 673 black and white photographs including: U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s visit to New Zealand in 1943 and her tour through Whakarewarewa with Guide Rangi Dennan. It also shows huge public events with Māori performances in Gisborne and Kāpiti. Other highlights are: rugby games, hospital scenes, dancing in the Cecil Club in Wellington, farm visits and extraordinary footage of the Marines beach-landing exercises under fire at Paekākāriki.

There will be two viewings of the film, one starting about 2pm and the other @ 5.30pm.
