POG Biochar Burn (workshop) and BBQ

November 25 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

10am – 2pm on Saturday 25 November at Miriona Gardens (Community Gardens)

A Christmas themed Biochar burn and char-b-que. A Workshop/BBQ

Friends and family welcome

What to bring: Dried garden waste to burn (sticks and leaves) and something for the barbie.
What will you take home: Some Biochar that you made – woohoo! Plus the knowledge of how to make your own home char-b-que, and full bellies and heart after bbq fun with POG whānau.
Why do you want Biochar? You will learn lots at the workshop about how making char is awesome way to store carbon, improve soil and save the planet! But for now know that your take home char will boost your garden or even make a handy emergency toilet for your earthquake kit!
Why is this happening: For those who haven’t heard the fantastic news we (POG) were awarded a KCDC Climate Action grant to buy a Biochar Kiln. This will be our very first burn and workshop, which we are running free of charge. It is being led by our amazing John Wraight! We would love to share this special first burn with you and have your support.
After we are up and running we plan to run workshops (for a small fee to cover costs) and a mobile kiln hire service around the region.
DM me or email [email protected] to grab one of the spots. Numbers are limited to 30. W
The workshop is free but attendees are encouraged to bring dry sticks and leaves to burn if they can find some at home and something for the bbq.
Also bring a container to bring some biochar home with you!
