Paekākāriki Community Gardens – Call out for new Tree Guardians!
Yep, we’re doing it again! We are chuffed with what we have achieved so far in the Community Orchard but there is plenty of space for more fruit and nut trees so we need more Tree Guardians to help us look after this year’s new plantings please!
If you or your whānau want to help us nurture a fruit or nut tree for our community and future generations and can spare a few hours a month then let us know by emailing [email protected] and we will get in touch with you. Be quick though, there is a limit to the number of trees we’ll be planting this year – don’t miss out!
If you can help to plant the tree that’s great but if not you can still be a Tree Guardian, the main purpose of being a Tree Guardian is to nurture the new trees through their early years by weeding under the tree regularly, watering during the summer and pruning and feeding in the winter. In a few short years your love and nurturing will ensure we will have loads of fruit and nuts to share with the community!
The very experienced POG team will be by your side every step of the way so you don’t even need to know anything about fruit and nut trees, we will teach you!
If you love what we are doing but aren’t able to be a Tree Guardian, you can support us by donating via our give a little page, all money raised goes directly into buying trees, garden tools and related materials, link below.
Remember to get in touch if you want to get involved
