Film Festival: Ngāti (1987) & The Camera on the Shore (2009)

Sat 11 July – St Peter’s Village Hall – 4pm and 6:15pm:

The Paekākāriki Film Festival is proud to present Barry Barclay’s “Ngāti” (1987), the first feature film written and directed by Māori in Aotearoa New Zealand. The film is set in 1948 in a small town on the east coast of New Zealand during the impending closure of a freezing works and the threat of unemployment for the local community. The 4pm screening of “Ngāti” will be followed by a short kai break.

After the break, the 6.15pm screening of “The Camera on the Shore” (2009), a documentary about the late Barry Barclay introduced by its director, Graeme Tuckett.

Tickets $15 – to see both films – two films for the price of one.
