We welcome all interested people to Potty Potters; gardeners and non-gardeners, parents and grandparents and non-parents. We particularly need help in the weeks leading up to the Labour weekend plant sale – thousands of baby seedlings need potting up, labelling, watering, feeding and moving. And all year round our students appreciate adults to help them learn about gardening, cooking and creating things for the gardens.
Potty Potters meet every Friday morning from 9am to prepare plants for our autumn and spring plant sales which fund the garden programme and teacher aides at our local kura. Come along and learn propagation skills while enjoying good company. Or if you prefer and have a particular interest in, say, dahlias or proteas or lizard-friendly plants, then consider propagating these at home for us – we’ll provide the potting mix and so on.
Our plant sales are as zero-waste as we can make then – we use recycled pots and bags for our plants and make our own labels from what we can get our hands on. If you have pots or anything else we might use then please contact us.
