Potty Potters

We are a gardening group that welcomes all interested people to Potty Potters at Paekākāriki School: gardeners and non-gardeners, parents, grandparents and non-parents. Money raised at our biannual plant sales funds the school’s gardening curriculum – all year round our students appreciate the gardeners that help them learn about gardening, cooking and creating things for the gardens. We particularly need help in the weeks leading up to the Labour weekend plant sale – thousands of baby seedlings need potting up, labelling, watering, feeding and moving.

Potty Potters meet every Friday morning from 9.30am to prepare plants for our autumn and spring plant sales which fund the gardening programme at our local kura. Come along and learn propagation skills while enjoying good company. Or if you prefer and have a particular interest in, say, dahlias or proteas or lizard-friendly plants, then consider propagating these at home for us – we’ll provide the potting mix and so on.

Our plant sales are as zero-waste as we can make then – we use recycled pots and bags for our plants and make our own labels from what we can get our hands on.  If you have pots or anything else we might use then please contact us.
