Don’t miss the Paekākāriki Art Show: ANZAC weekend, 2024

The wonderful annual Paekākāriki Art Show displays a diverse, stunning selection of art works from many well-known lower North Island artists St Peter’s Hall over ANZAC weekend. This very popular event, started by the Paekākāriki artist Ronda Thompson, is now in its ninth year. Showcased will be a wide range of artistic styles created using many exciting media. Well-respected artists from previous exhibitions, plus many new exciting art creators, exhibit their works.    

Come along on Wednesday evening (24th April) at 6.00pm for the opening of the show. $10 will get you nibbles, wine and, more importantly, a chance to peruse the art and purchase something before the main days of the show (25–28 April). 

This year’s guest artist is Sarah Pou. A full-time artist, she has a passion for colour and combines everyday street scenes with assorted figures set amongst classic architecture to create unique, highly detailed, colourful, bold artworks. Working from her studio on Kapiti Coast, her illustrative style has been also recognised by KCDC to design a large mural that will be soon revealed at Paraparaumu Beach. 

The show is a major fund-raiser for the Paekākāriki Community Trust which looks after St Peter’s Village Hall. Funds raised will help maintain its upkeep, general costs and improvements for the wide range of users.     

A team of artists and curators continue to build on the reputation of this quality show. Their contact with the arts community and curatorial skills will ensure a visually inspiring exhibition that reflects the high skill and creativity of these artists.
