WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
The cost of the dinner and hall has kindly been donated.. This means all your funds will go to CFTA.
All proceeds will go directly to the Culture & Free Thought Association (CFTA) – http://web.cfta-ps.org/ – in Khan Younis, Gaza, who will purchase and provide humanitarian assistance to their communities.
WHO IS CFTA?
Culture & Free Thought Association (CFTA) is one of the largest and most active networks of human rights organization in the Gaza Strip.
CFTA is run in close collaboration with the communities it serves, and the five founding Palestinian women activists remain part of CFTA’s everyday work.
For more than 30 years, CFTA has worked in Gaza to provide safe, supportive, spaces and opportunities to gain knowledge, enhance skills and connect people, and provide emergency humanitarian assistance.
WHY CFTA & NOT ONE OF BIG INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES?
The ongoing bombardment has rendered safe, large-scale humanitarian responses impossible. Only small amounts of aid are allowed in by the Israeli government, and the delivery and receipt of international aid is increasingly risky for Palestinians.
Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, CFTA have been able to directly provide emergency food, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene supplies for the many thousands of Palestinians made homeless.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of friends horrified by Israel’s ongoing siege on Palestinians in Gaza and the catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
WE ARE CALLING FOR:
– An unconditional and internationally monitored ceasefire
– Immediate and unimpeded flow of food, water, and humanitarian aid into Gaza
– The New Zealand Government to fulfil its international legal obligations by protecting and promoting Palestinian human rights and denouncing Israeli war crimes.
AND AN IMMEDIATE END TO:
– Israel’s genocidal actions towards Palestinians in Gaza
– The apartheid systemic policies of the Israeli state toward the Palestinian people,
– Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.
Israel’s occupation of Palestine and its current destruction of Gaza are illegal under international law. This is recognised and documented in UN Security Council and General Assembly Resolutions, International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court rulings, and by numerous international legal experts and human rights organisations.
We act in opposition to racism, which includes Islamophobia and anti-Jewish prejudice.
