Established in 2009, the Trust tells the story of the 15,000 U.S. Marines who lived in three large camps at Paekākāriki from 1942 to late 1943.
There are displays at the Paekākāriki Station Museum and the southern end of Queen Elizabeth Park.
Follow the ‘Yankee Trail’ to Mackays Crossing to experience a restored Marines’ hut, exhibition, and a memorial to the 10 sailors who drowned off our coast. An extensive online resource is available at: www.marinesnz.com/
