I recently realized I don’t just sing for the living

I sing for the dead too

Specifically, for my Grandma.

She would ask both my sister and I, and we would put on little shows for her. She would tell us how lovely our voices were.

I can imagine most grandmas ask their grandchildren to sing for them.

Truth is, I loved to sing and I believed that she thought my voice was lovely because she loved me.

Believing in myself though was harder.

I struggled to learn songs I loved, I always found the lyrics so hard to learn and could never remember them

But I always knew the melody.

I could feel each note deeply in my bones as they hit my ears.

Still til this day, I hear and feel the melody before I hear the words.

It wasn’t long until I realized this was where I would retreat each time I needed to hide, to process emotion, I would hear a melody and then my own words would follow.

For me, being a highly sensitive human, that was a lot.

After spending the last few years focusing on raising my tamariki (children), and after many years of honing my song writing skills, I have been honored enough to play my songs for others realizing the potential they have to empower others.

I truly believe I receive songs from the stars above, which are designed to expand the hearts of others and bring harmony to all beings on planet earth.

With a diverse range of genres, my songs are written from my deep connection to the human experience.

My soulful voice offers sanctuary and inspiration to those in need of strength and hope, and are a joyful experience for anyone wanting to just enjoy the wonder that is music.

So I invite you to journey through this night with me.
