Paekākāriki Playcentre is a parent-run Early Education centre housed in a beautiful old villa on Wellington Rd. We provide three sessions a week where the focus is on child-initiated play, whānau and community.
Playcentre believes that parents are children’s first and best teachers, and provides a free education programme for parents as part of its ‘families learning together’ philosophy.
Paekākāriki Playcentre is committed to honouring Te Tiriti O Waitangi and provides a bilingual session on Mondays where a te reo Māori speaker is employed and where children and parents learn te reo and tikanga Māori alongside one another. Playcentre offers three free visits before you decide whether to enrol your child – so drop in anytime!
Members at Paekākāriki Playcentre are a diverse group of enthusiastic parents and whānau, who bring valuable skills and knowledge to their roles. The high levels of involvement of the centre’s community and a sense of collective responsibility to children, provides a positive platform for learning. Well-developed systems support the smooth day-to-day running of the playcentre.
