Weddings are popular at St Peter’s Village Hall either as the main wedding ceremony venue, or the reception venue, or both.
Our hall looks spectacular when decorated (see link for photos below). The deck is situated through double doors, and a marquee can be erected on this area, with or without sides. Many weddings choose to use the deck area and marquee for their bar and food servery area.
A beautiful garden backdrops this deck area too – click here for wedding photos.
Wedding parties love Paekākāriki as a wedding destination – a smaller unique venue that can be decorated to suit your taste; great photo opportunities at the beach; many accommodation options within the village and surrounding area; village shops and cafés; a hotel and bottle store.
We have 155 chairs plus 25 trestles; tablecloths for hire, both black, and white; catering equipment to serve 100; a fully functional kitchen with a large oven, dishwasher, fridge, and plenty of space for yourself or a caterer to work.
Our hall has many extras to hire – please see below.
You will be assigned a wedding host (a volunteer) from the St Peter’s Village Hall team who will help and support you through the process of booking, checking out the venue, and deciding on your requirements, up to and including your wedding day. This cost is included in the wedding packages below.
We have several small businesses within our village who can help with your wedding: e.g. Honey Flower (Florist); Beach Road Deli (Catering); Hairdressers; Paekākāriki Holiday Park and Finns Hotel for accommodation/catering; plus many Air BnB’s. Ask your wedding host if you need contact details.
We have very competitive wedding packages:
Standard 48 hour hire: $1,200.00
Includes wedding hall host (to help support you with your requirements) booking fee, and the standard hall hire rate (tables, chairs, microphone, kitchen for tea/coffee/cold drinks)
Premium 48 hour hire: $2,000
Includes wedding hall host (to help support you with your requirements) booking fee, and the standard hire rate plus marquee, kitchen for food preparation, crockery, glasses, and cutlery for 100 people. Hall PA & stereo sound and sound equipment.
Please contact us about viewing the hall, pricing, and any questions or suggestions. Email: [email protected]
When booking your wedding, please allow enough time for setting up the venue and for cleaning up afterwards. This cannot be done at midnight, as weddings normally use much, or all, of our equipment, and a satisfactory clean-up needs to be done the next day. Therefore we suggest either a 24-hour or 48-hour hire period be chosen. Please discuss this when making your booking.
There is a church next door – St Peter’s Anglican Church – you can enquire here if you wish to find out more about this as a ceremony venue:

You can check available dates for hire, and see events booked at St Peter’s Village Hall.
Check out Eventfinda – tickets for some events are available through this site. Depending on the event there are often also cash door sales.

St Peter’s Village Hall is a much loved community venue. It was built in 1918 for the Anglican Church and has been used by the Church and the Community since then. In 2007 it was sold to the Paekākāriki Community and is now run by the Paekākāriki Community Trust.
The Trust raises funds for the hall’s renovation and upkeep.
Since 2012 major restoration work has been done, including rewiring and installing a contemporary lighting, heating and cooling system. The toilets have been upgraded, the interior painted, and a new commercial-style kitchen has been installed.
The stage upgrade includes a Public Address system (incl Cordless Mics), a projector and screen, theatre lighting and red velvet curtains.
A large deck has been added that can accommodate a 6m x 3m Marquee which is available for hire.
The hall floor has been replaced with new Matai floorboards, using recycled weather boards from a house in Te Aroha and Nae Nae. This will ensure the hall will be able to be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.
Landscaping has been completed by building steps on the south side of the property allowing easier access to the Bike Library, and connecting the property from Ames Street to the deck. Wifi has been installed.
Upgrades continue to occur as and when finances are available. Voluntary input from Village residents into the hall is vital to ensure these upgrades.
The Paekākāriki Community Trust was created in 2007 when the Anglican Church sold St Peter’s Hall to the community for $1.00.
The hall was in a dilapidated condition at the time, and has since been completely renovated, including a rebuilt south wall, repainting, new toilets, new kitchen, new floor, a deck on the eastern side and improved access on the south side. This has all been done with grants, fundraising and, importantly, with the labour of many many volunteers.
St Peter’s Hall today is a fantastic asset for the local community and is in constant use for all kinds of events and activities.
The Trust Deed sets out our objectives, and these guide everything we do. The objectives are:
Trustees are elected annually at the AGM. We encourage new people to put themselves forward for election. And we welcome volunteers throughout the year to help with our regular fundraising events – the Art Show, Book Fair and Film Festival.
Chair – Paekākāriki Community Trust.
